Crocheted Cable Beanie

Although I have been a self-taught crocheter for a few months now, I wanted to step outside of the usual single crochet, double crochet, half double crochet patterns and face my fears of front post double crochet and back post double crochet. This hat is basically all fpdc and bpdc.

Personally, I love the neat look of knitted items but crocheting is so much faster and easier. I was so excited when I found this pattern for a child and adult cable hat! The first time I tried the child pattern with an H or I hook, the hat came out too small for my son. I decided to use a K hook and it came out beautifully and I love how it covers most of his ears; perfect for the winter season. I also used single crochet for the brim, instead of fpdc and bpdc. 

I have to agree that this is not a beginner's pattern but once you get this down, it will feel like it is even easier than a beginner's pattern.

 My son has many button ups and what other way to amp it up to add on more cuteness? The answer is bow ties. I have made a variety of colors for him to wear but since the holidays are near, I was inspired to make this red one. I invite you to make some for yourself!

Crochet DIY: Facial Cotton Pads

Pin It I love finding ways of saving money, especially if it means that I can make them myself. It makes me feel more artistic and enables me to use more creativity, since I am such a plain Jane.

While I was crocheting a few newborn owl hats, I noticed how the white eyes resembled cotton pads that I use to remove my makeup. I knew I was using 100% cotton so I decided to make a few to test out.

I immediately loved it. It is soft and the ridges from the crochet were actually very helpful in exfoliating my skin and getting most of the makeup off of areas of my waterline. I think I actually like it more than the disposable ones because I am quite afraid of the pieces of cotton that come off, getting into my eyes.

        Use it. Toss it in laundry. Dry. Reuse.

DIY: Goodbye Scum

Pin It Before my husband and I became parents, we would just run to the store and buy whatever kind of bathroom scrub-free cleaner [of which, are collecting dust under the bathroom sink] there was, however, that all changed since the day we found out we were expecting with baby D. Suddenly, we became very aware and conscious of the things we ate [that will be saved for another blog] and of the things we used. To ensure that baby D grows up healthily, we have made many lifestyle changes to the best of our control. Now that I'm a mommy, I am always looking for ways of doing things that are more eco-friendly for my family and me. I love doing  "DIY" searches using the Pinterest App. You'd be surprised with what you find on there. It's become one of my favorite Apps in the whole world.

Just the other night, I stumbled upon the magic solution to getting rid of bathtub scum almost instantaneously. Lucky for me,  I was able to try it out today. Per husband's suggestion of cleaning the bathtub weekly, instead of daily ( I usually wipe down the tiles and tub after every shower use), lots of scum built up!
