Crochet DIY: Bow Tie

My son has many button ups and what other way to amp it up to add on more cuteness? The answer is bow ties. I have made a variety of colors for him to wear but since the holidays are near, I was inspired to make this red one. I invite you to make some for yourself!

button
measuring tape

2. DC in second chain from hook and in every chain after that. Chain 2 and turn. (Chain 2 counts as first DC)
3. DC in the second DC space and throughout. Chain 2 and turn.

5. Fold right sides and slip stitch ends. Finish off leaving several inches of yarn.

1. Measure the circumference of person's neck.
2. Chain however many chains until you reach an estimate of the measurement.
3. DC in from the second chain of the hook and throughout.
4. Finish off.

 How to Assemble

1. This is how the bow piece will look after you slip stitch it with the right side facing down.

2. After that, flip it inside out so the right side is facing up and turn the bow so the slip stitch is now in the center as shown below.

3.  Wrap yarn around the center and tie a knot with the two strands in the center as shown below.

4. The front should look something like this.

5. Wrap the center piece around the center of bow and sew ends together.

 6. It should look like this after you sew it on. You will have many long strands of yarn. Weave in the ends and cut off excess yarn.

7. Select a button that is able to fit through the DC of the necktie. Attach it to to one of the ends of the neck tie.

8. Sew on the neck tie to the back of the bow.
